September 2021 - Starling view

About the Image(s)

A shot of starling in a local park at a short distance perched on a dead stump. The shiny black color was beautiful under the morning sun.
1/1600 , 400 ISO and f/5.3 aperture

A nice image, but it can use a little cropping. I cropped the image, put it through Topaz Denoise Ai and Topaz Sharpen Ai. I then ran it through Luminar Ai, Animal Friends Collection and chose "Natural". I also lightened the birds eye. This is what I got.   Posted: 09/11/2021 15:43:33

I agree the brightening of the eye is important. I find the background a bit too cluttered. I might suggest softening the background and perhaps a bit more cropping.   Posted: 09/12/2021 05:49:58

Lovely image of a Starling. I agree that it could be cropped much harder, and the eye brightening works too. Sometimes we can't help but be where we are amongst the bushes and it is part of the birds environment, however by blurring the background slightly to bring focus on the starling would help this image. You've captured the bird perfectly as their black feathers often reflect light which makes it hard to get detail, but you nailed it here!   Posted: 09/28/2021 19:02:15

A well-done sharp bird photo. My advice is zoom in so that the bird fills the frame except for some negative space on the right. Then the background needs to be blurred and darkened. The only important thing in this photo is the bird.   Posted: 09/29/2021 11:37:18

Nice sharp shot. There are two ways to go with this image. The first is that you show the bird within its environment and you did that and it works for me. the second is a portrait shot and since there is no "behavior" going on it is basically a photo of a bird, and that does not work for me as much as the environmental one.

Yes you could do all the plugin stuff or probably open up the shadows on the bird and give the eye a bit more light.

Background - could be a bit darker - your call and crop on the right.   Posted: 09/30/2021 14:29:08
