King vulture by Glenn Rudd

September 2021 - King vulture

About the Image(s)

In April 2017 I attended a photography workshop in Costa Rica. . This venue was in the Coastal Lowlands near the Atlantic Ocean. The blind was set up specifically to attract vultures. Although vultures are not known for their beauty, this species has very handsome feathers and decorations.
Technical: 1/400 sec, f/7.1, ISO 1000, 500 mm.

Great shot. He stands out nicely against the darker background.   Posted: 09/12/2021 05:53:30

Love the King Vulture - to me they look like very regal with their neckware! Did you take this in Costa Rica?

Nice and sharp, Perfect exposure against the background.   Posted: 09/28/2021 18:58:33

Nice portrait shot and great soft background. You said that there was a blind specifically set up to attract the vultures. Were they baited? How were they attracted to this site?   Posted: 09/30/2021 14:21:29
