About the Image(s)

This is an image of the Vatnajökull Ice Cap taken recently at Skaftafell National Park in Iceland. In PS 2021 I cropped the image to emphasize the landscape format, accentuated the blues and whites, and increased clarity. Not much else was done. Compositionally, I am uncomfortable with the imbalance of clouds and how the wide angle lens made the massive glacial tongues smaller (the price of including the reflecting pond?). Camera data: Nikon Z7ii, f/14, 1/500 th , 20mm,ISO = 200, handheld.

Your photo of the Vatnajökull Ice Cap is a fine composition of the scene. As you mention getting the water into the foreground dramatically has an outcome on the size and features of the mountains. It seems it could be more of a photo of the water than the ice Cap. The clouds were in a position that affected the overall viewing perspective. I fooled around and made a slight crop and flipped the scene to see how that might make looking at it more natural from left to right. Even with your comments I like the way your captured the scene, clouds and all.   Posted: 09/09/2021 13:15:55

John, I really like what you did. Somehow, flipping the horizontal gives the image better balance. Thank you!   Posted: 09/11/2021 21:42:26

You got to be in Iceland to take the picture and remember the beauty of the scene. I only got to edit a photo.
Your the lucky the man.   Posted: 09/12/2021 06:07:40

John, beautiful landscape. Love the preponderance of blues and grays. And catching the reflections makes it one of a kind. Not quite sure what you could do about balancing things out, I might try cropping so that the viewer is more at the edge of the lake. And for this to be a true travel landscape you'll have to flip it back to what you saw in the viewfinder. Nicely done! I want to go!   Posted: 09/19/2021 16:04:31

Hello Charles, thank you for sharing this colorful photo of nature including clouds and mountains. The lake surface faithfully reflects the light and objects of the sky. The gray and white colors of the clouds make it difficult for the photo to convey the calm but increase the grandeur. With this photo I think you can make a unique impression on other photographers by lowering the camera and creating a few sharp points but a few green leaves in front to make it more attractive. Thank you for sharing this precious photo. Best Regards,   Posted: 09/19/2021 22:28:48
