About the Image(s)

On Memorial Day in US, I went to Siesta Key Beach, FL but it was very crowded and I could not find a parking space. I came back after the sunset and took this picture in the blue hour around 8:30 PM. I took multiple pictures using Time Interval function in Sony Camera a7riii. The model changed her poses multiple times during time interval, so I could select the pictures I want. This image was taken at f1.8, speed 1/30s ISO 1600. I replaced sky by Photoshop but filled only 56%. Added birds from my own photo and blend with Pin Light blend mode. Using curve adjustment and sharpen by Unsharp Mask option. Lens: 85mm 1.8 Sony

Quang Phan, what a rich image. It is a story as well as a photo. I like the way you had the model pose and the insertion of the birds adds to the tone of the moment. Your sky replacement is seamless and improves the image. Are you happy with the sharpness of the figures on shore on the right side of the photo? Your 85mm at f/1.8 had a thin depth of field, but perhaps you intended this?   Posted: 06/04/2021 10:26:27

Hi Charles, that is a very helpful advise. I took at f1.8 because it was very dark and try to avoid noise from very high ISO. I paid attention to the subject and the silhouette. I could experiment with different apertures and increase the time. Thanks for advise   Posted: 06/07/2021 09:11:41

Quang, I really enjoy the feeling of serenity this image provides. It's warm and lush and I want to be there. The edits you made work very well and having the model in the frame makes it pop. My only question is the use of the large aperture for the shot, only because you have the lifeguard shack in perfect focus but the people on the shore are out of focus. Ordinary this would be fine, but the seagulls you added are in focus and seem further away than the beachgoers, which leads to some disorientation for the viewer. Anyway, it's lovely.   Posted: 06/06/2021 12:16:30

Yes Rich. Thank you I should blur the birds to match the general clariness. Best Regards   Posted: 06/07/2021 09:13:02

Very rich color image, which is attractive always. The sky during sunset is part of important scene in this image so I would suggest expand the sky that would be perfect, thanks for sharing this image.   Posted: 06/16/2021 11:20:52
