About the Image(s)

This was done using a photo technique of intentionally panning the camera when taking the image of the San Jose skyline. Then, during our terrible wildfire season, I edited the photo in Luminar 4, cropping, increasing structure and adding layers of color to replicate what the skies looked like on many occasions. It was scary! Anyway, the “creative” outcome of paying homage to the disaster was my intention. The original photo was taken with a Sony A7rii at 300 mm, 50 iso, f22 at 1/6th sec, handheld.

Rich, this is visual art as well as a photo. It is, as well, a kind of journalism paying homage to the fire, which by the way, my dear Brother experienced in a city near San Jose. Terrifying is a word to describe the experience. You may be interested in the photographic art of Jane Fulton Alt: https://www.janefultonalt.com/the-burn

Rich,
I look at this and see a very unique blending of photography and art as mentioned by Charles Walker. The technique you describe was introduced into our camera club by a guest speaker last year. I've tried it a bit, but have not had anywhere near the success you have found. I like what I see. It's very pleasing to the eye.   Posted: 06/04/2021 19:23:03

Hi Rich, I appreciate your creating of this image with your feel and emotion on it. The image leads viewer to the a terrifies of forest burning. I like the color blending and light on the orange color part. On the lower part of image, I don't understand much, but I would like to see if it could be reduce of brightness and contrast a bit (from both lower corner) for a balance. Thanks for showing and it is very artistic. Best Regards   Posted: 06/07/2021 10:45:23

It's very abstract and art looks image, I like it. The lower part of image seems are the building of city, if so, it's so shocking feel.   Posted: 06/16/2021 11:30:21

Very successful abstraction and the graduation of the colors is well done. My only question: what is the subject of the image? For me, it's the fire at top and the skyline serves as an anchor.   Posted: 06/25/2021 10:36:08
