John, this certainly cleaned up from the original! What a fascinating building caught in just the right light. Cruising the Mississippi is definitely on my bucket list. You also brought out a very nice sky, full of interest. My only suggestions would be to crop the top and bottom a bit since my eyes tended to wander away from the subject and perhaps run it through a sharpening program like Topaz. Thanks for sharing your image!   Posted: 06/03/2021 15:14:42

Rich, thanks for your review. I did wonder if there was too much water in the foreground, but let it go. And yes, I see the issue of cropping to get more focus on the subject. Thanks for your words they are greatly appreciated.   Posted: 06/03/2021 16:47:04

John, I have taken some decent shots with a Coolpix. Note that it is, as you may know, a kind of mirrorless camera. I like what you have done in the far horizon to reduce the haze. Replacing the sky adds a nice touch of summer that was missing in the original. You did a lot with a little.   Posted: 06/04/2021 10:16:14

Charles,
Thank you for your review and comments regarding my Huson River Lighthouse Photo. I love my little Coolpix 7100 camera and used it all over the world on trips. It's my main backup and when I'm feeling lazy. The photo as you know was edited in Luminar AI, which is my go-to program. I do tend to over-edit photos to get a rich color. I'm a color junky.   Posted: 06/04/2021 19:10:28

Hi John, it is a very nice composition image after post processing. Thanks for introducing the place I will save on list... Replacing the sky create a nice and rich image. In my view, I would suggest you could blend the sky less opacity to get to realistic sky (or it could be blurred little bit on the far end). The background of the other side of river in my option I would leave the haze/blur to help the lighthouse more popped. Best Regards. I wonder where you stood to take this picture? it is very clear.   Posted: 06/07/2021 10:54:28

Hi Quang,
Thank you for your excellent evaluation of my photograph.
Your idea of haze and blending the sky is something I will attempt on this photo to see how well it works.
This photo was taken from a boat as we passed the lighthouse on the Hudson River. It was not the best platform to take a picture. I just this past week went back again on another boat cruise past this lighthouse and took some more photos.
This tide was our and photos were not of the same composition like this one and were lacking.   Posted: 06/11/2021 08:31:59

This tower is amazing where stand alone on the wetland, which is a good place for photography, not sure if there is a road on the left extend to this tower, if so, where should be a starting point for capturing as a leading line, this is my suggestion, and I feel the brightness of image has a bit high as well.   Posted: 06/14/2021 05:42:51

Louis,
Thank you kindly for your evaluation and feedback.
I took the photo from a moving boat while traveling down the Hudson River. The lighthouse sits alone in the middle of the entrance to Hudson from another river. Nothing to provide a leading line. I tend to over colorize photographs. I just love bright scenes of color and nature. It makes the scene less than realistic. Thanks again.   Posted: 06/14/2021 17:10:05
