About the Image(s)
Unlike the white sands I posted last month, the sand dunes of Death Valley have a little more color and texture, especially in the golden hour. I liked the ripples and the placement of the mesquite plant in this scene. Taken with iPhone 8 with minimal adjustments with the iPhone photos software.

Image is sharp from front to back. Very nice composition and color pallette Jack.   Posted: 05/06/2022 18:37:28
Lovely image, Jack! I really like the striking contrasts in the scene: the sharp diagonal shadow across soft rippling dunes, the lone stand of mesquite, and the moon appears tiny above the vast desert. The colors are very nice but I also wonder if BW would work for this. Nice job!   Posted: 05/07/2022 23:47:22
Thanks Belinda I agree, the lines and textures tend to work great in black and white, I will give it a try.   Posted: 05/09/2022 10:15:19
Nice how the moon cooperated that day to get into position for you. I like the way the ripples go in one direction above the dark letter "Y" and change direction below it. These dunes have so many colorful waves for texture. Great shot!   Posted: 05/08/2022 21:36:56
Thanks Pat. Funny no matter how large the moon looks in person, it's always tiny when photographed!   Posted: 05/09/2022 10:16:20
The sharpness, color, and composition are what make me wish I was there. Yes, the moon always looks small in my images also. Great job.   Posted: 05/12/2022 10:48:46
Really like this image. Beautiful leading lines in the sand to the mesquite. The texture of the sands looks soft / wind-blown. Complementing shadow running left to right. Moon is a nice touch.   Posted: 05/16/2022 19:07:35
Very nice image! You were able to capture the different patterns of the sand in one scene. The diagonal shadow that runs across the sand dunes and behind the mesquite trees make the image more interesting. The composition is very well done with the trees raising above the horizon line. The moon is a big plus to the scene! Great shot!
