About the Image(s)

On my iPhone, I shot part of a set of flowers from a bright-colored bunch of all types in a bouquet my husband bought for my birthday last summer. Last month, I downloaded the Procreate app on my new iPad, so this project got me to learn several skills: sizing the canvas, masking, sharpening, cloning, all using Apple Pencil, which is also new to me. As always with new tools, it took HOURS to figure out procedures I could do fast in PS. However, since one reason I got an iPad was to edit photos when I’m not home, I’m motivated. Procreate seems to be a powerful photo editor so far, but feel free to critique my amateurish efforts as I’m looking for ways to improve this journey. If any of you have used this app, I welcome some tips, getting started.

The results are lovely, Pat. I assume the steps you took to get these results are those you mentioned above. I especially like background and diagonal lines. The background chosen almost resembles the striations of the petals. Very nice textures revealed throughout. As with all new things there's always a learning curve, but I think this shows you've already gotten the hang of things! Happy New Year!   Posted: 01/06/2022 17:47:28

You did a great job with this app, Pat. The image comes together very well, naturally, doesn't look at all fabricated, and you've found a great way to present these beautiful mums, which as we can see were kind of lost in the original bouquet image. I can't think of any suggestions for improvement.   Posted: 01/07/2022 11:58:11

Howdy, Pat! A beautiful image; The B/G ties in with the flowers which you took from the original picture. Great job. Thanks for telling us about the app.   Posted: 01/08/2022 11:27:00

Great job Pat. A worthy project and, overall, impressive first effort with a new App. Took me a while to plug into what you did. I like the background work, which blends in nicely. My only comment is a nit relating to masking, which left red artifacts on the upper right petals and red, green/black artifacts on the edges in the lower petals.   Posted: 01/08/2022 15:21:22

Hi Pat,
I am glad to hear that you use Procreate app. I attended several worshops of Procreate, provided by Design Cuts but I have not tried it yet.
For this image, the diagonal background is dynamic and its color matches with the flowers. I agree with Gene that the mask around the flowers still show some original colors around the petals. Overall, it's a nice result, and I am looking to seeing more of your work using Procreate.
(I sent the comments to your image a few days ago. For some reasons, it disappeared, and I need to resend it now.)   Posted: 01/09/2022 18:45:17
