Fall by Gene Eckhardt

November 2021 - Fall

About the Image(s)

This time went to the front yard. A mandatory shot in the Northwest with all the lace leave maples. This one is about 5' tall and about 7' - 8' in diameter. Not too difficult. Crouch, slip phone under the canopy and shoot. Only processing .. toned down the sky from white to light blue. Prefer shooting color that is backlit. I think it results in a richer color.

I'm a fan of backlit, too, Gene, although it's a challenge to control sometimes. Here, you have enough foliage to diffuse the light a bit, and the result is a beautiful abstract of saturated color, held together by the branches, very nice.   Posted: 11/04/2021 21:27:17

The trees intertwined with each other like it was created by the kaleidoscope. You have chosen the beautiful angle to capture this scene. Most parts of the leaves are behind the branches, but few of them (near the center) are on the front that help break the monotonous of the scene. The image seems busy but it works well with the beautiful fall color and the enhancement of the backlit light. Nice image!   Posted: 11/06/2021 07:00:06

I'd be curious to see the original shot because this outcome looks so natural and un-fiddled with. It's great that your tree has such dense foliage, when others I see are riddled with blank areas where leaves have already bit the dust.
I get a coolish, shady vibe under this tree, even though the leaves are ablaze in warm-toned color.   Posted: 11/06/2021 14:02:17

Thank you. Apologies for not posting the original. Also, this is the tree from the other side.

This is a lovely backlit image. I love the results of your choice. It makes the designs of the dark branches pop. The entire image appears almost like stained glass. Nice!   Posted: 11/08/2021 11:04:15

Vibrant colors and DOF! Back lighting is a good choice for this image. Glad you added the 2 images for Pat; You are fortunate to have such a beautiful tree in your yard!   Posted: 11/11/2021 09:23:22
