About the Image(s)

I visited the Badlands recently, and unfortunately, the light was just a little bit cloudy for this sunrise. I used one of the warming filters in the Photos app on my Mac to help the light a bit, and I found I could even do a selective color adjustment on the sky to bring out more blue.

The place you visited, via the image you captured, is so different than the landscape image I have ever seen. The colors and formation of the rocks are beautiful! The composition with the diagonal line of the rocks, and it's in 2/3 of the frame clearly emphasizes the main subject.
I'd prefer to darken the blue sky that peek out of the white clouds a bit more since the white clouds seem to overpower there. It's a beautiful scene!   Posted: 11/06/2021 08:18:54

Your warming filter wrung the brighter, more natural colors right out of this scene to make it ten times more appealing than the way you had to photograph it that day. It went from gloomy and dim to dazzling with its colorful horizontal stripes. Jack, you worked wonders with these good-looking badlands. They look better than I remembered them.   Posted: 11/06/2021 14:06:33

Sunrises are always nice, but the rock formations in this landscape steal the show. Your edits with the filter are spot-on for this. The textures and colors revealed are phenomenal! I also see more than one image here if you crop the sky to just above the first white puffs. Beautiful and memorable image!   Posted: 11/08/2021 11:32:25

Another beautiful cell camera image from the badlands! Your processing did a great job of bringing out the colors. The rocks in the lower left draw my eye into the photo to the rocks in the midground and to the background. I find myself itching to boost the exposure and color saturation of the ground - just a bit. Well done.   Posted: 11/08/2021 19:56:21
