Spider Man by Ruth Holt

June 2021 - Spider Man

About the Image(s)

I've gone back to my "Living Yard Art" theme for this month. "Spider Man" was taken last year with my cell phone. Opened up in APS-CS6. Used Lasso tool on the body>clone>sharpen, Select refine mask>whole spider>shadows/highlights, auto color, crop and resize. Hope everyone is doing well and getting back into the swing of meeting with friends and family...

What an interesting macro scene you have there, Ruth. Cool spider web. While the background leaf blur works really well, it would have been preferable to get more sharpness on the web and the spider itself. That's easier said than done, of course, especially with cell phone cameras.   Posted: 06/06/2021 17:50:40

I'm happy to see more of your Yard Art. I love garden spiders and their designs. I put up a sign to protect a web between a bush and our front door! This is a fascinating design for sure and I see the attraction. It could use more focus, and as Jack said, it's hard to do with a cell phone. It's hard on knees and back too! I can't be sure, but for this shot you might have needed to move back a little. If you do more closeups, check to see if you can change the phone's camera settings to help. I have a "pro" option on mine (not used often) where settings can be selected just like any camera. Happy summer!   Posted: 06/08/2021 09:05:26

Your spiderman image Is so cool, Ruth! Although the image is not quite sharp, but the contents of it are worth more than the post processing. The spider, the web, and the leaf work well together.   Posted: 06/10/2021 13:10:04

That spider made itself a neat little home circle. I never saw webbing like that, that outlines the little critter. Good eye! This was an unusual shot and the lack of tack-sharpness makes it seem like it was painted.   Posted: 06/21/2021 14:12:10
