About the Image(s)

I took this photo at a Harbor Park in Los Angeles. It is one of my favorite flying sites. The titled original also has some color editing applied. When I took the photo, my Mavic was at about 95 ft AGL. There is an interesting story about this flight, but I will wait and post it as a comment.

Camera Settings: FC220 camera

Did you change out skies? I don't see the clouds in the original.

In any case, a lovely end result   Posted: 09/12/2023 16:24:00

Yes. I should have said that, but I know it would be obvious. I thought it added a bit of interest to the shot.

Striking colors. good decision to change the sky. There is a small white dot in the water, what could it be?   Posted: 09/14/2023 10:13:06

I am not exactly sure, maybe some kind of buoy. I probably should have removed it.   Posted: 09/14/2023 10:19:05

As I mentioned in my intro, there is a story behind this flight. I wanted to take a video as I flew over the lake. I was trying to keep my drone in sight and going back and forth between it and the display on my iPhone. As I looked at the image on the display, noticed my drone was not making much progress, and so I increased its speed.

Only then did I realize I had been using the wrong stick. Of course, by now, my drone had climbed higher and higher and reached the 400' limit along with multiple audio warnings. I no longer had it in sight. Finally, I did something right, and pressed RTH. My eyes and attention were so focused on the image on the display, that I failed to monitor the Height. A lesson learned - at least I hope so.   Posted: 09/17/2023 20:21:27
