About the Image(s)

This is an image of the Anthony Wayne Bridge across the Maumee River in Toledo. I just happened to be in the area one day when I saw activity on the bridge, it was several emergency vehicles. I was hesitant to send my drone up but then decided it would be okay if i stayed far enough away, which I did.

In the image you can see two people going up the far cable and one person on the very top. They were apparently all first responders. I'm not sure if they got a call for someone being on the bridge, such as a jumper or if some adventurer got around the barriers and climbed to the top.

DJI Mavic, at f2.2, 1/590 second, ISO 100. The original image looked pretty muddy. After cropping and straightening the image I adjusted the exposure and added some clarity. In the original the river looks about the correct color, it is a muddy river. I tried to make it look a little more inviting in the final version.

Lou,
Great shot you chould tell alot of stories with this one. Nice job post I like the colours. One thing when I look at your photo is the amazing background. The sky and that other water Bridge/Dam/levy is very interesting if you were to return to this area? Did you take any photos below bridge level to me the sky has very nice contrast for mid-day.
Good Job,

Hi Alex, thanks for the comments. I believe I took quite a few images that day, some were with my DSLR, so I probably got a lot of sky images.   Posted: 09/12/2023 11:32:29

Great in the moment capture. And I like your post although the water may be a little too green for my eye

Maybe you could have added an arrow pointing to the people on the truss :-)   Posted: 09/12/2023 21:19:28

Hi Pete, thanks for the comments. I agree about the water, I have a hard time getting it to look natural, other than it's normal muddy brown color.   Posted: 09/12/2023 21:34:40

Good documentary picture, good title! I understand you could not fly closer, but maybe you could crop more - even giving up nice parts - to be evident where the men are.   Posted: 09/14/2023 15:09:12

Hi Janos, I like your idea of cropping tighter. I will give that a try,   Posted: 09/16/2023 14:17:36

Lou, That is a great documentary photo, and I am glad you took the opportunity to photograph it. Like Janos, I would try cropping in and using software to resize the image.

Like Pete commented, after doing that I would be tempted to add an arrow. Regarding the cropping, maybe only leaving the left-most truck might work. I think that would be sufficient to tell that part of the story and allow you to crop closer on the men.   Posted: 09/18/2023 01:11:05

Great find Lou, tough to get all of the information in… can't really fly closer, and the men are so small, and you have to see the emergency vehicles. Even if you crop it square, it's hard to see the people.
The processing looks good, besides the green water…   Posted: 10/01/2023 00:33:11
