About the Image(s)

This was taken in Hungary, near the village called Somogyvámos. I was lucky with the light, resulting in long shadows and also with the green crops. I plan to go back also in winter time. Altitude was 124 m.

Hi Janos,

I really like the color saturation you seem to have added. I do find the patch of bare ground in the upper left a little distracting. Possibly cloning that out might work to retain your chosen composition. I am wondering what a tighter crop would have done to the image?

What type of drone are you using?

first I had a Spark, some of the photos posted are made with it. Now I am using a DJI Mini2 - and thinking to buy a Mini 3   Posted: 05/12/2022 00:00:25

I really liked this spot. The window casting the small bright spot is a bonus!

To my eye it feels like it might be better with the shadows pointing into the image, not out of it. So if this was morning shoot at sunset (or vice versa) from a different orientation.

In post I would get rid of the three small structures upper right of the church, especially the red one   Posted: 05/01/2022 21:33:53

Thanks Pete. I also do not like the small structures but since I send the photo for travel competitions, I cannot simply delete them   Posted: 05/12/2022 00:01:56

Hi Janos, I think this is a wonderful photo. I love the colors and the details in the crop. The shadows are dramatic. I agree with Pete about the small objects being distracting. Also, I see why you cropped the image how you did but I also agree that the shadows pointing out of the image are not ideal. I look forward to seeing some winter images.   Posted: 05/02/2022 08:17:54

Yes, I also think it would be a good idea to go back in winter time, or even late Fall and see what's there   Posted: 05/12/2022 00:02:54

Hi Janos. I really like your idea of this photo too. I think it is perhaps a little too heavy on the right, although you do give it lots of breathing room in the direction in which the little building is facing.

I think I would have tried to center the building in the photo, although that would have given you a triangle of grass in the upper right corner. I copied the original into Photoshop to see how it would look centered, and I quickly cloned in some rows into that area. I also partially cloned green over the spot in the upper center. Would you like to see what I did?

I also recommend bringing down the exposure on the bright parts of the building a little. The white parts are almost blown out.   Posted: 05/02/2022 12:55:21

This was just a quick edit on the jpg. If working on the original I might have spent a little more time on getting it just right.   Posted: 05/12/2022 09:45:19
