About the Image(s)
Sturgeon Point Lighthouse in the Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Michigan has a great number of lighthouses but many of them are relatively inaccessible because of their location, fortunately this one was easily accessible. I captured this image with my Mavic 2 Pro, f5.6, ISO 100, 1/500 second. In Lightroom I cropped the image and added clarity and adjusted the colors a bit. In Photoshop I did some work on the lighthouse to enhance the details, I thought it look really flat in the original. I also cloned out a few items that I thought were distracting.

Hi Lou. Perspective correction was nicely done, and bringing down the exposure a bit was good. I think it could even have even been brought down a little more. While bringing out the texture in the lighthouse was good, applying it to the entire image gave it a crunchy look. I don't know if that is the processing you did to increase contrast, but if it was, I would use a different tool to increase contrast. I think the lack of contrast is was ok along the horizon line in the back because that area is far away, and it helps show depth in the image. I recommend copying the original layer in Photoshop, applying the texture/sharpening, and then masking out all but the lighthouse. The trees especially look oversharpened.   Posted: 10/07/2024 19:06:14

Hi Drema, thanks for the comments. I do have a tendency to over sharpen at times.   Posted: 10/08/2024 20:50:30

Shot from this direction I would have considered putting the lighthouse on the right side of the image, not the left. Compositionally it just seems too empty on the right.
And if it could be managed moved to the right to get more side lighting. This would have added depth to the lighthouse
As Drema has pointed out it does seem just a bit over exposed   Posted: 10/08/2024 03:31:07

Hi Pete, thanks for the comments. I like your suggestion about the side lighting. I do like having the lake on the right side and I would kind of hate to sacrifice that.   Posted: 10/08/2024 20:52:48

Great capture Lou… could you fly the drone so that the lighthouse is on the right and you have the lake in the background? I think that white lighthouse would look good with the the blue lake in the background.   Posted: 10/10/2024 00:46:38

Nice shot, I agree with most of the comments above. I would try to increase the color temp slightly with a white balance adjustment of +5% or so, the whites would not be so hard.   Posted: 10/10/2024 21:16:57

Lou,
I like the detail you brought out in the lighthouse itself. The sharpness of the trees don't bother me - actually nothing in the image bothers me.
That being said, I think I would have increased the vibrance a bit if it were my image. I like saturated colors. :-)
