July 2024 - flower Macro

About the Image(s)

I was given a 100mm f8 macro lens and I decided to try it out a a local flower farm. Took this photo indoors and after cropping and removing the background this was the result I had my canon on auto iso. Iso 32000, f11, 1/60 sec. I don't know what kind of flower.

Wow very beautifully captured. You did not mention if you used a flash or not. But looking at your EXIF i think not.

for Macro , flash is very important. But direct flash will create harsh image. so it has to be softened diffused using some diffusers or modifiers. Macro photography is also very interesting genre. Shows you nature which we would never be able to see by our naked eyes.

Looks like a variation of a Yellow Sunflower. I like it. The crop is well done, and the focus is sharp.   Posted: 07/08/2024 17:10:52

I agree - looks like a sunflower. It's a nice composition - really fills the frame well. Nice and close. The colours are also nicely done - strong but not overly so.

I see a bit of softness in the most left yellow petal compared to other petals. A smaller aperture would have given you a larger dof but at what cost to the shutter speed / iso settings.

Nicely done.
