I like the cropping. If the heron had been looking down then I'd suggest that you could crop the left side, but with the heron gazing leftward, I think how you've done it is fine (my opinion only). This image has a bit of a dreamy feel to it with the fog and I like it. It is a nice image to look at.
Where my wife and I winter in Alabama, Blue Herons will stand by the fishermen on the Gulf beach waiting very patiently for them to catch something and throw it to them to eat.   Posted: 08/04/2022 20:21:52

Beautiful image of this foggy morning with the Blue Heron. Your composition is perfect, and the reeds in the foreground provide some depth and context to the overall image.

I agree with everyone's comments regarding he crop. I would not change anything.
