Dewy Lady Slipper. by Laurie McShane

June 2021 - Dewy Lady Slipper.

About the Image(s)

This was taken yesterday at a local state park, and it was very exciting to see it. Lady Slipper orchids (Cyprepedium parviflorans) are quite rare, and the state flower for Minnesota. It was taken with my Canon 5D Mark iv, at F5.6, 1/400 sec, and ISO 1600.

I kind of like the painterly look. I am interested in what you think about it, and any suggestions you have. Thanks!

I really like this image. I'm a sucker for this type of image and your's is beautifully done. Just the right amount of sharpness but also has a nice soft delicate look. My only suggestion would be to try and tone down the soft, bright background light behind the stem at the peak of it's arc.   Posted: 06/10/2021 20:41:59

The softness is nice, and the soft background is really well done. Personal preference would have been to have the plane of focus be where the water drops are in the picture. This would sharpen the yellow lady slipper and softened the leaves, which are in focus now.   Posted: 06/11/2021 08:57:23
