About the Image(s)
I recently attended a Lisa Langell " Magic of Cowboys" workshop at a ranch in Arizona, USA. Settings were: 1/2500 sec, 6.3 ISO, 2500
This is a type of competition at rodeos where cowboys and cowgirls try to pop as many balloons as possible while quickly maneuvering through the poles. Of course, it is not a real gun.
I learned so much at this workshop. My main focus has been bird photography, which uses the same settings. I need to learn more about my camera and settings.

This is a wonderful image! Technically, the exposure and shutter speed to stop action are spot on. I like the almost monochrome color palette with dust in the background which focuses attention on the rider and creates the impression that the horse is coming towards you out of the frame. Well done, Kathleen.   Posted: 03/15/2025 04:57:33

This is fabulous. The dust and gun smoke add wonderful interest, as well as the horse's hooves off the ground. It would be nice if her face were brighter so we could see her better, but I love the way her hair is backlit. Would it be a consideration to crop off the top and eliminate the strip of sky to put the focus even more on the subject? Just an idea.   Posted: 03/16/2025 10:27:47
