October 2024 - Young Fisherman

About the Image(s)

This shot goes back to Feb 2019 - seems like a lifetime ago. I took this shot from a 6th floor balcony looking over the Gulf Coast. Normally you see a lot of men fishing but this day there was a young lad very engrossed in his quest for the “big one”. I don’t know if he achieved the quest or not. The image is a bit soft due to the distance and the fact the shot was taken on a Canon Rebel 7T zoomed to 135mm (and then cropped). I haven’t done much to this image, just some basic tweaking in ACR. I purposely left the shovel in the image as I think it shows a differrent side to the boy.

The solitude of youthful adventure. The image makes you wonder what is going one in his mind. The plastic shovel adds to the wonder and playfulness of youth.   Posted: 10/02/2024 15:41:06

I agree the plastic shovel shows how young he is. I hope his parent was close by! I might have cropped this a bit.   Posted: 10/07/2024 16:51:16

A very sweet image. His determination seems evident. Strong composition, and I agree that the shovel adds to the story.   Posted: 10/10/2024 13:12:41
