About the Image(s)

Canon R5; 24-70 mm lens at 35mm, 1/60; f/5.6; IS0 100. Photographed in studio with a main at 11:00 and fill opposite. Used V-Flat to create a "soft box". I photographed a number of images and my goal is to ultimately create a 20x20 collage canvas consisting of 9 different images of varied expressions from this photo session. Perhaps I'll have that ready for next months image. I used a white background, but since this baby is so pale I wonder if a different color might ultimately provide a bit more contrast in the final black and white. After making the appropriate adjustments for exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, etc., I just converted the image to black and white, brought it into Photoshop and removed blemishes (scratches) and enhanced the eyes.

What a cracking image!! The baby has a lovely expression and from the original I take it that he/she is covering their modesty!!!
I like the mono and feel that if you had used a stronger coloured background it may have detracted from the baby.
Great image, well done!!   Posted: 08/02/2022 09:58:28

You did great! I can not say anything that would make this image better.   Posted: 08/02/2022 13:00:45

Cherle, what a cutie! I love the smile. I am not a portrait photographer, but I wonder if the catchlight - not much you could have done, but can do post, is to not have the catchlight into the dark pupils as it is a distraction to me. you can do a bit of cloning if you so wish. I also prefer, and do so here, a rectangular framing and you could add some of the area below the neck, see how that looks. Great expression.   Posted: 08/02/2022 22:45:51
