About the Image(s)

Description: Homeward bound birds happily lingering in a certain formation in the skies one evening in Bangalore. Seemed like a silver lining to the gloom of the lockdown around. Much required. I particularly liked the pattern and the formations it formed.

Details: shot with One Plus 5. Shot and converted into two formats during post processing. What do you choose?

A very unusual image and well spotted. I prefer the darker one but have also uploaded the light one for the group members to make their choice.
In the dark image the birds seem to be glowing and flying towards the light. I like the very loose formation they are in. Having two or three of the birds breaking out of the formation helps the image.
My biggest issue is with the amount of noise in the images or have you introduced grain on purpose?   Posted: 07/06/2021 06:26:39

Hema, nicely seen and good separation. Not sure what is going on with the noise or grain. It can add some texture, but I find it distracting, especially in the bottom right.   Posted: 07/08/2021 07:33:34

I like the dark one as well. I do find it a bit noisy, especially in the lighter parts of the image. Overall, great spot and I like the composition.   Posted: 07/08/2021 15:21:56

I definitely like the darker one better, but have to agree…the noise is distracting, but still a very interesting shot.   Posted: 07/09/2021 19:32:57

Thank you everyone. Cheryl and Janet, both your comments appear twice :)

Well thanks for all your thoughts. This was an experiment to convert a normal evening sight of birds against a blue sky into something like a silver lining. The noise rather grains is a tad bit intentional to get the texture. I could have removed it but retained it, felt like a parched canvas. So if you see it from that angle then it won't seem like noise:-)   Posted: 07/09/2021 21:55:16
