About the Image(s)

When processing this original image I just couldn't make it work, too much yellow and green. I used Topaz filter Exclusion Fusion that allowed me to adjust the colors and make, I think, a nicer image. ISO 800, F11, 1/200 sec @ 35mm

Bob, you're right, I think it was the best you could do given the original image. The muted tones are soothing but for my liking a bit more structure would support the composition. My eye says it's a bit too washed out, but that's just me. Good experiment though.   Posted: 05/09/2023 16:22:32

Hi Bob,
Greetings.
You have shown me a different level of post processing.
Nice idea, but as Rich said; "It's a bit too washed out".
May be this could be done with more depth of field and contrast could be used as well.
My two cents.
Stay safe as always.
Cheers.

This is a lovely photo. The inversion of the colors is very unique. I do agree that the colors are washed out. The image may lend itself to a tighter crop focusing on one flower surrounded by leaves. Beyond that I am unsure what else can be done with the image. It does have very nice detail and does have a lot to offer.   Posted: 05/15/2023 14:14:50

Thanks Jacob for your thoughts. Just an exercise in altered reality and textures to get folks thinking.   Posted: 05/15/2023 20:52:07

Bob a good effort at playing with post editing. I agree with other comments here that it seems mono-tonal and a bit of a vignette might help or some manipulation of mid tones. The pastel colours make for a pleasing overall impact though. Thanks for making me think of other solutions.   Posted: 05/16/2023 08:05:35

Thanks Kathryn for your comments. I agree with the mono-tonal comment and that is what caused me to look for a solution for the original. Yes, I might use an impressionistic edit but nothing has hit me yet. I take some of these images and search for an edit that brings on a Wow. Perhaps this image has no redeeming qualities and it gets deleted. Any suggestions?   Posted: 05/17/2023 15:22:28

Hi Bob, I do admire how you explore various avenues to make an image stand out from the "crowd" - I like what you have done so far with this image. The mono-tone you have selected (or has the Topaz filter generated this preset colour?) has make the large leaf on the left as the focal point and so my eyes are drawn to that spot. Was that your intention? Is it possible to select the larger flower on the left bottom side and focus on that one with the large leaf and the rest softened with a tighter crop? Look forward to the next one.   Posted: 05/20/2023 05:36:19

Thanks for your ideas Nadia and Doug. I couldn't change much with the original as that Topaz filter was using light blending and color tuning but since only yellow and green in the image. I did use the Remix filter and your cropping suggestion and flipped it. I think it is more conventional and more likely to get booted because the yellow gold and non dark center is too close to the natural way but let me know what you all think about this.   Posted: 05/20/2023 21:21:58

Bob, I should have made myself more clearer. I like the mono tone of the one presented and thought that you might like to crop it to showcase maybe two flowers with the main leaf in the centre. Retain the softness of the background and highlight the two flowers and the leaf creating a triangle. Here's what I intitally thought what might work. What are your thoughts?   Posted: 05/23/2023 05:52:13

Thanks Nadia and Doug. That works for me. And yes, now I'm seeing those beautiful triangles. And here's hoping that Doug likes that top flower cropped. My life is still very hectic and some of the obvious things just escape my mind.

I love the monotone pale presentation. Perhaps the top flower could be cut off more ore not at all.   Posted: 05/20/2023 11:57:33

Thanks Doug. Does this improve the image?   Posted: 05/22/2023 10:16:18

I still like the blue presentation. The main sunflower is not in good enough shape to support being highlighted; the composition is not as good as the original, & now the background looks messy. Just cropping a little off the top flower would take care of my concerns.   Posted: 05/22/2023 10:37:15
