About the Image(s)

I was in San Sebastian in Spain and saw these two sitting in the bucolic setting of the harbor painting...I loved their outfits, the setting, and the story it created for me of a Mom or older sister teaching the younger girl.

It was taken with my Canon 50d, which I used to travel with until the heaviness of the equipment got to be too much for me. Very sunny day, standard settings, handheld.

Love it. The concentration on what they are doing tells the story of two people together/alone doing their own thing. Well executed.   Posted: 05/03/2021 08:12:35

I really like the story you're trying to tell here and I like seeing the environment in the background.

I'm conflicted about the fact that the 2nd person is almost totally obscured by the first. On one hand I see her there and I see that she's holding a pencil or brush and is creating art. On the other hand, I'm not sure I'm seeing enough of her to fully include her in the story.   Posted: 05/03/2021 10:44:21

I love the bold colours on the main figure against the much gentler colours of the surrounding water and hills. The intense concentration of the main figure puts her into her own little world. I'm not sure if matters that her companion is not well seen as, imho, without her the image would be less.   Posted: 05/04/2021 08:44:15

I think the story is really good. My problem with this image is the composition. There are, at least, THREE people, but we only get to see the closest person.   Posted: 05/04/2021 13:13:58

I like the bright colors of the woman's clothing, really stands out against the muted background. I have often been envious of people who can paint a scene so love watching them. I do wish the face of the second girl could be seen, but I don't know how you could have gotten it unless you wanted to jump in the water. Like the story this photo tells too.   Posted: 05/11/2021 13:29:34

Thank you, Karen! Sometimes, in street photography, we take what we get, right? I didn't feel like a swim that day!   Posted: 05/12/2021 20:00:38
