About the Image(s)

During the pandemic we liked to walk in wide open or less visited parks to 'forest breathe' and avoid people. In a small county park in Delaware we walked a mostly paved trail that went through wooded areas. With my trusty Sony RX10 III all-around camera, I photographed several of the interesting trees and details along the path. In Photoshop elements 14 I copied and reversed part of the tree trunk and pasted it as a mirror image. Then I played with the forms and textures. Cloning eliminated distractions and developed some minor themes along with contrast adjustments and dodging and burning. As a final thought to make the image not just another mirrored picture, I added a flying eagle from Conowingo. Now there are a lot of things that I 'see 'in the old tree each time I view it..

This image is great fun. I too see many different things, mostly creatures. The bird adds a pleasing element of asymmetry. The original image has lots of potential as well. I might try blurring the grass and trees.   Posted: 05/09/2021 19:30:50

Judith, do you think you would lose the tree if you blurred the forest?   Posted: 05/10/2021 11:56:14

I am impressed with this idea. Um, your tree has breasts. I really like the eagle and the concept of putting images into tree bark.   Posted: 05/10/2021 11:58:30

Hi Lauren, The 'images' in the tree bark were there. I did some local dodging/burning and contrast enhancement to bring out shapes and textures. It's just playing and evolving the image. Karl   Posted: 05/11/2021 12:43:20

You said that you "copied and reversed part of the tree trunk and pasted it as a mirror image". That is what I meant.   Posted: 05/11/2021 19:39:38
