About the Image(s)

Canon EOS R, F5.6 @ 1/180 sec, iso 400

This was a grab shot at a steampunk event which I had ignored until I needed lots of people images for a salon. All I’ve done is basic RAW conversion, cropped it, cloned out the yellow strip on the trouser leg and sharpened it.

Nice job Terry - you've beaten me to comments on all other images re: cropping - you and I seem to have similar tastes for tight crops. I like where you chose to move your borders. Excellent subject, I particularly like the look in his eye as he sees you with the camera. Well done!   Posted: 05/02/2021 16:45:35

Love your Mad Hatter Terry!
The expression on his face is a classic!
Suggestions from me?
Have you considered a little more colour and texture in the stones and the door? The colour and patterns in the Hatter's clothes tend to make the background seem a little washed out, despite your previous work.
My other suggestion would be to straighten the lines of the door. The image background appears to lean a tad to the left. (e.g. vertical line of the edge of the door)
Great image though. It makes me smile.   Posted: 05/05/2021 03:45:39

I like your conversion and the placement of the figure. Great shot. No suggestions.   Posted: 05/05/2021 20:52:48

Terry, I think its a fun shot, fab that you got it without a prolonged shoot! I agree with Helen that the wall and door seem too bright and washed out. I'd love to see them pulled down a bit.

A few years ago I went to a Steampunk wedding. The cake had gears all over it and the guys all looked like this. The marriage lasted a couple of years. So much for fad weddings.   Posted: 05/07/2021 20:24:55
