About the Image(s)

This image was taken of the cityscape in Jacksonville, Florida on July 23, 2021 at 6:29pm. I used Nikon D800 Camera, Nikon Lens 28-300 with a 10 stop Neutral Density Filter, at F22, ISO 100, and 4.o sec., on a tripod. I looked on YouTube to learn how to mirror this image. To make the image look realistic, I used the gaussian blur to blur the water and used levels to lighten the light on the water. I also used sky replacement and Topaz deNoise A1.

A lovely image that the sky replacement has made even stronger as it has added those warm tones to contrast with the cool ones. In my opinion the water blur (probably both the amount and type of blur) is not a plus, so I prefer your original image, which also has those warm tones. Here's a version with more saturation, levels, and a warming photo filter added to enhance the reds, yellows and oranges.   Posted: 10/09/2021 17:11:56

The Gaussian blur is an overall blur. Perhaps a blur with direction or texture would be more realistic. I tried all the PS filters and Topaz textures and came up empty. Perhaps Witta is right that you should let the natural reflection stay.   Posted: 10/10/2021 13:28:44

I really like your composition and the sky swap was a very good choice. Like the others, I actually prefer the original as you lose the water motion with your mirror image version. I think Witta's edits really added to the image as well.

I've not tried this effect before, so I'm not sure of any other suggestions that would let you do this, but make it more "natural".   Posted: 10/12/2021 07:32:18

I really like your original image and will take what appears to be a contrarian position - I think your reflection takes this image to another level. As suggested by Denise you might try and bring a bit of water motion back but again, I really like the reflection as is. I would see if it's possible to straighten the Wells Fargo building and the building to its right in the reflection as they seem to be tilting in - even if this is messing with physics.   Posted: 10/14/2021 09:34:57
