About the Image(s)

I’ve been working on some things other than ‘fruit & flowers’ lately. This image is a light painted still life which was converted to monochrome on my iPad using a mobile app. I just can’t remember which app I used. I think it gave it an even more old world look.

Your switch from "fruit &flowers" didn't suffer any when you creating this vintage tool image.Your talents in creating beautiful and imaginative still life images are exemplary. The sepia tone really works here along with the textured wood that gives a nice backdrop to the tools. The light on the tools are subtle (shadowy) and the highlights well placed both on the tools as well as the background. I like the details too from the drill in the foreground to the wood shavings...well thought out image.   Posted: 05/17/2022 21:07:10

Another great image Heidi. Yes, different from your usual subject matter, but no less effective. Your presentation image, tells me you thought about it all the way through from the capture stage. Placement of the elements, lighting, tight cropping around the timber backing and base, together with some wood shavings, all combine to give a superb final image. And the toning beautifully complements the image.   Posted: 05/20/2022 03:24:30

I like the layout of the image - the Z pattern of the tools. Nice choice of wood background. But I think you could lighten it up a tad so the tools are better seen. You may have wanted to photostack the image because the front drill is out of focus. Guys like the details and edges, the gouges and dents, on their tools. These tell stories. The debris on the table top is a nice touch!   Posted: 05/22/2022 11:04:29

Nicely done Heidi. I like the tool placement and the particular areas you added extra light for emphasis. Placing them on a wood background and adding shavings, was very creative and tells a story.   Posted: 05/22/2022 14:12:13
