Sunflowers by Heidi Egerman

September 2021 - Sunflowers

About the Image(s)

I continue to work at perfecting my light painting skills and with the garden in full bloom I couldn’t resist these beautiful sunflowers. There is such a variety and their texture and color make them a great subject to photograph. This image has minor edits in Adobe Camera Raw.

I like very much the contrast in the image and the soft subtle lighting on the flowers with shadowing on the flowers in the image. Beautiful image Heidi. This is an image that I would be proud to hang on my wall.   Posted: 09/09/2021 18:54:07

Thank you Henriette. I didn't have high hopes for this image when I shot it but I was pleasantly surprised. Sunflowers have been one of my main candidates this year. I have actually sold two images, which is a first for me.   Posted: 09/27/2021 17:56:42

Very beautiful image, soft and full of nostalgia . The flowers are starting to fade, it's the end of the summer... Sniff.
The harmony of colors here is very nice. I also like the fact that it's a little darker on the right when looking at the image to close the picture and force the eye to go look at everything.
The image is soothing and indeed the best gift would be to hang it in your home.
This picture corresponds for me to a cozy atmosphere, with an old oak wardrobe of the "grandparents" and the round table. An atmosphere of happy childhood where nothing could happen to us not even the return of the rain and the winter cold.
I know I'm embroidering, but I love these images that make us travel in our childhood and / or in our imagination. Thank you for this beautiful image, subtle and warm.   Posted: 09/09/2021 23:32:21

As a proponent of the "dark side" I like your choice of background and subtle lighting ... from a window? All flowers are sharply focused. The dulled petal colors add a sense of the somber to the image. To my eye, the only distraction is the elongated line at top center, which could be removed without impairing the image. Nice choice on the wooden box for the arrangement.   Posted: 09/18/2021 09:29:27

Thank Trey. I also lean to the dark side (of images that is). You are right about the line, I plan to remove it. I appreciate your taking the time to comment on this image.   Posted: 09/27/2021 18:02:40

Another outstanding image Heidi, as you produce so consistently. I have nothing to add that has not been said by the others already. This one definitely deserves to be shared with a wider audience Heidi. Congratulations.   Posted: 09/19/2021 02:55:09
