About the Image(s)

Since I’m an avid gardener and it is the peak of the season, I have a lot of subject matter. I’m as passionate about my garden as I am my photography. This image of purple cabbage was edited in ACR, sharpened with Topaz AI Sharpen. Final tweaks were done in Nix Collection Color Efex Pro 4. My intent was to make it dramatic, but not too dark.

Very well done Heidi, you have succeeded in what you set out to do. With your original image, the lighting could be said to be a little flat, particularly on the leaves surrounding the head of the cabbage. Your cropping a small amount off the top, has not detracted from the image in any way and your processing is first rate. The lighting has changed into that dramatic effect you wanted and the details in the cabbage now jump out at us. The vignette is a great finishing touch, it stops our eyes cold, from wandering out of the frame and just keeps us focused on the head of the cabbage. Very well done indeed.   Posted: 07/04/2021 03:19:44

Wow...to go from flat to dramatic ... from original image to finished image..your processing skills in making this an outstanding image really stand out. The way you molded the light and shadows are to be admired as my eyes stay in the image. In addition I like the design elements of the cabbage itself so my eyes, while kept in the image, wander around the beautiful design elements of the leaves. Beautiful image and well composed.   Posted: 07/06/2021 14:49:29

Nicely done and cropped! At first I thought the purple veins should be stronger in color, but then compared left to right and I believe you got it right. I like the different lighting in the final version. Nice contrast between the leaves harp and the veins too.   Posted: 07/07/2021 15:34:26

Superb realization!
I love the veins that bring the eye back to the heart of the cabbage. You can almost feel it beating.
Kudos for the color, composition and intent.   Posted: 07/19/2021 01:41:59
