About the Image(s)
Walking in the woods this time of year provides many great colors. I chose this intimate scene based on the darkness of the forest and the light just touching the fall leaves.
Sony A7rv, Zeiss Batis 135mm, 1/15 sec, f5.6, ISO 100. Handheld with some vignetting applied in post.

Hi Dan: This exactly how our Thimble Berry leaves appear this time of the year with some green leaves and also various fall color hues of autumn colors. This is an authentic nature picture with black spot on the autumn color leaves and bug chews on the green leaves. I cannot see how you could achieve adequate sharpness on the leaves hand held at 1/15 second, you must have had the vibration reduction tuned on full.   Posted: 11/04/2023 03:02:20

Thank you Judy and Murphy. I have found these new mirrorless cameras with in body stabilization allow for really slow shutter speeds handheld. I don't believe the old rule of equalling the focal length and the shutter speed (120 mm lens with a minimum with 125/sec. handheld) applies anymore with the new technology.   Posted: 11/06/2023 02:10:25

Hi Dan: Thanks for your information. The newest technology is simply amazing; back in our slide film days we could not have handheld 1/15th second with much success.   Posted: 11/06/2023 06:33:39

I need to use the new color tool in LR for this JPEG as the TIFF on my screen shows a magenta in the blue areas you point out. The new tool is perfect to either add the opposite color or 50% gray to remove that artificial blue. Thanks for pointing that out. I don't like the blue.   Posted: 11/09/2023 01:44:39

On my calibrated monitor I can barely make out a slight blue tinge in the middle green leaf by a diagonal leaf vein near the top of the frame.
Am not an ophthalmologist however I think people can recognize colors slightly different from each other. Then even if our monitors are all calibrated there can still be slight variations in how they render colors. Another variation is different brands of monitors can render colors slightly different from each other.   Posted: 11/12/2023 01:09:41

Congratulations for this picture at 1/15 s even with the technology. Even if the "how" doesn't matter, it is always interesting to know what is possible to realize.
Just beautiful leaves. The light and the sharpness are great. We can analyze the leaves...
Good idea for the vignetting.   Posted: 11/21/2023 08:15:05
