"I think there's a lot wrong with this photo, but I still like it.
Too start, the vignette is overdone. I will share the process but wanted to see if anyone can guess. Thought it might be an interesting conversation. "

Hi Mo: An interesting B&W conversion with some drama. As you state the vignette may be a bit on the bold side.
The container the flower is sitting on is interesting and makes a good prop. One aspect I question is the purple creep runs out of the top of the frame which to me seems kind of chopped off.
To me a very creative and novel idea...   Posted: 10/07/2024 07:02:47

Thanks Murphy. I'm always looking for some new and creative way to get certain effects. This rose was fixed to a small plant holder and submerged in a fish tank with water. I was playing with food dye but the dye would dissipate too quickly in the water. So I used an oil based ink used on fabric to give it that spider web effect.I knew this wasn't one of my best, but in the spirit of sharing different ideas, I thought it would make an interesting discussion.I appreciate the comment.   Posted: 10/07/2024 14:32:32

Like I just mentioned to Ray, it is fun to experiment with new ideas and techniques, one never knows when you may hit the jackpot with a new idea.   Posted: 10/09/2024 15:20:38

Always interesting and surprising to read how you have created your picture.   Posted: 10/19/2024 17:19:39

Mo, I always look forward to seeing what you have to offer. Before reading yuo description, I had decided it was a water shot of a rose in B&W with a purple dye of some added to the top of the water. I think the texture of the rose seems off but not sure why, and as you say, the image is over vignetted (if one can say that). I tried to work out whether more purple strands or fewer ones or ones spread out more or clumped on both the right and left but not the middle might work better in terms of a composition but failed to get any resolution other than to try and see. Thanks for sharing. Ray   Posted: 10/10/2024 01:06:27

I think I over processed it on top of some other errors. LOL Live and learn. As you might imagine, a lot of this was random results. I had a hard time managing the flow of the ink. It was quite thick. I think I tried a few of these, but as you might imagine, cleaning everything out before setting up another was laborious. Thanks Ray!   Posted: 10/10/2024 03:58:35

Thanks Gaetan. I often tell folks that I have the photo in my head long before it ever see the camera. : I appreciate the kind remarks.   Posted: 10/16/2024 16:30:40

All the process you have described (preparation, picture and cleaning) takes time.
As you mentioned, there is some vignetting in excess. For the rest, I can only applaud.   Posted: 10/19/2024 17:24:40
