About the Image(s)
Nikon D850 with Nikon 200mm macro lens on tripod - ISO 1600 - 1/80 second @ f/18 - single image, no stacks - cloudy early morning - Post Processed in Elements.
We have a large public botanical garden near by, they have a large variety of flowers from which to choose from to photograph. I find early morning cloudy conditions the best and before the wind of the day arrives.
I have darkened the edges slightly, the picture just seemed to come across better. Have also added a thin medium green border to frame the image.

Murphy, the image surprised me. I am so involved in taking photos of individual flowers that I neglect how impactful a group of flowers might be. This photo of zinnias came out very impactful and I like the way the flowers are spaced, the vignette works well, as does the thin medium green border. It seems to me that the top edge is to close to the upper flowers but you might have been constrained by what else might have been showing higher up. Pretty image. Ray   Posted: 10/10/2024 00:49:45

Hi Ray: Pleased you liked the Zinnia picture. And yes, would have preferred a little more room at the top of the frame. The issue was I started to show the gray cloudy sky. I started out trying to use my 105mm macro lens, however with the wider field of view I had issues at both the top and sides with background showing. I switched to the 200mm macro lens and with the more narrow field of view that problem was eliminated.   Posted: 10/10/2024 14:55:08

A little more room at the sides and the top would increase the impact but sometimes, you have to do with what you have! Lovely colours and vignette.   Posted: 10/15/2024 14:46:56

at first glance, I'm mostly attracted by the beautiful colors and the sharpness.
The vignetting gives the impression of better lighting in the center. I also like the position of the different flowers. I see it two ways, always groups of two, and 2 flowers on the left and a circle.

Hi Vincent: If I understand correctly you like the two red flowers at the left edge and the two yellow flowers one above the other. Then the round circle of flowers on the right half of the screen. Had never given any thought to this way of viewing which I find interesting. Thanks for your viewpoint.   Posted: 10/27/2024 16:55:32

With pleasure Murphy.
What I tried to explain it is that I see the picture and the distribution of flowers on the 2 ways, namely:
1. Vertical "groups" of two, 5 times (groups) of the 2 flowers, of
2. the 2 red flowers on the left, and after a kind of circle composed by the 8 remaining flowers.
I see more second description.
