About the Image(s)

This is one of the most modern buildings in Bergen and I wanted to exhibit the integration between new and old architecture. Normally, I use long exposure for this kind of images, but there was no movement in the clouds, so I decided to use "normal" exposure. The post processing is done in Photoshop.

Camera: Fuji GFX 50S with Canon TS 24 mm lens

Hi Arne,
Thank you for sharing.
This is nice BW conversion. I like the tone presented and all details described. Cropping is appropriate to highlight the center of attention.
The clean-ups are carefully done - street bus and person is well cloned out.
Only one thing - you might want to take another careful look at the sky for additional clean up.
But overall, this is excellent BW architecture image for me.
Great!   Posted: 01/06/2022 00:09:15

Hi Arne

I really like the shot and BW version which really pops the lines vs the color version. Id be interested in a closer crop of the modern building to emphasize the lines/angles and 3D nature of this building. Nice work   Posted: 01/06/2022 16:37:13

I like the B&W conversion and clean up, it really focuses your eye on the architecture of the building. When I read the title, I was looking for more of the "old" than is shown. I wonder if a slightly different crop would emphasize that point you are making. Otherwise, I think an option of cropping in a little on the modern building (as Jeff suggested) and a change to the title works too.   Posted: 01/09/2022 11:36:05

Hey Arne, I like the BW version of the image. It seemed like you were trying to show a contrast between new and old. I would have cropped less of the old buildings and I was wondering about the crane on the building. did you want it there, because it was a total distraction to the geat lines and architecture of this building. Your exposure is right on. With the dark mood, I think the old buildings would not have been as much of an intrusion. You don't have to keep all of the old buildings. just a tiny bit more.   Posted: 01/13/2022 11:45:29

Hi Arne, I love the new crop it really brings out the centre of attention. The detail in the building is superb and the conversion is brilliant   Posted: 01/13/2022 12:41:39

It has been terrific to watch your architecture portfolio unfold. The tones of grey invite the eye to explore.
Like others, I think the crane is a distraction; I hope you can revisit when it is a better position. I also agree that the old building is not very prominent, so the new/old contrast is not clear, without the title. I presume that you could not move the camera position to the left, but if that is possible, maybe try it. The attached is just a thought.   Posted: 01/14/2022 13:11:06

Thank you for your comment, Dick. I am working on a photo book about architecture in Bergen, so the pictures will be unfolded one day. Your suggestion is very interesting as I got the same comment from my mentor. I will definitely go out and reshoot.   Posted: 01/15/2022 01:21:55
