I-520 bridge sunset by Peter Cheung

June 2022 - I-520 bridge sunset

About the Image(s)

The picture was taken in Feb on I-520 bridge park during sunset. The sky was cloudy but the sunset was gorgeous at that time. Luckily I had my DSLR camera in my car so I stopped by the park and took the picture. The camera settings are Sony a7rIII, Sony 24-105mm, 54mm, 1 / 40 sec, f/4.5, ISO-800. In post-processing I brightened up the shadow and the overall image a bit.

Another excellent image Peter! Really like the colors in the sky and the reflections in the water. The roadway is the perfect leading line to draw the viewer in to the image.

If it was my image - I would try cropping the bottom of the image to crop out about the bottom third of the picture removing the orange barrels and first car on the right - almost making it panorama style. Just my thoughts.   Posted: 06/10/2022 17:55:42

Beautiful elements going here. Skies, clouds, hills in the background, waterbody, roads leading lines, cars with their lights. I am amazed how you were able to get starlight from the oncoming car at f/4.5.
Stunning postcard image. Loved it.   Posted: 06/13/2022 21:02:57

What a gorgeous sunset! The bridge looks like it goes directly into the water but I really like the POV on this one. I agree with Tom, I would probably remove the orange barrels, but do not think I would crop that drastically, just clone/spot removal on the barrels. I think the vehicles add to the image though, so would not remove them. The road is a great leading line into the water and sunset and mountains which I can't take my eyes away from it! Nicely done, as usual Peter!

Another great image Peter. I agree with the others, those barrels have to go, definitely clone them out as Sherry suggests. With all respect to Tom, if you were to crop it as he suggests, the remaining portion of the street light in the center wouldn't look right to me, I need to see it all, where it meets the road. One part that does bother me, is the bottom right 25% of the whole image. I'm seeing a good amount of growth, possibly weeds rising into the a large portion of this image. To me, they make this quarter of the whole image appear dirty. Could they not have been broken or removed before you pressed the shutter? Were you so focused on the sunset and reflections in the background you just didn't see them? Many would have been. But a good sunset image just the same.   Posted: 06/23/2022 05:34:50

Thank you for your comments. I didn't notice the barrels on the lower right-hand corner:) I agree with you and the others for removing the barrels.   Posted: 06/25/2022 23:41:49
