About the Image(s)
For the last 3 years I do a trip up to Vero Beach, Fl to shoot Osprey nesting on this particular lake. Every year I have tried to take an image right before sunrise to show off the Trees, Moss and Lake. This is better than others, some depends on the sunrise of course and some on the level of mist. This morning the mist was minor, but the pink of the sunrise really nice. I also came away with quite a few shots of a Peregrine Falcon and many shots of Osprey and their nest and babies. But this one fits our landscape theme. Taken with my Sony A7r4 and 100-400 lens at 100mm

1/600 sec
F5.6
ISO 400

For those interested there are also 2 Osprey on the far left cypress tree.

I find the pastel colors of the morning Florida sky very pleasant and a great representation of of the mornings in the rivers and lakebeds there. The Cypress trees and Spanish moss evoke the sound of the birds and frogs croaking and welcoming the day. Very nice capture!   Posted: 05/11/2022 18:01:09

Lovely colors, as Tom said, pastel colors are very pleasant to the eyes. Cypress trees are very photogenic, very mystical... your image brings out that representation of beauty. I was about to say - can we crop this a bit more but then read/saw about the 2 ospreys which makes sense not to crop them.

The birder in me is very curious about the osprey family shots and my favorite bird Peregrine Falcon.

I feel a slow shutter may have smoothened the ripples and also added more reflection. I agree on the mist, that would have been awesome too.

Kudos to your planning in terms of regular visits in the AM. Great shot.

The Falcon is on Group 94 (nature Plus) this month if you're interested in seeing it. Not yet posted any of the Osprey but will get around to it....I too am a birder, living in Florida, USA makes it inevitable!

And as for slower shutter speed I was worried as we were on a Pontoon boat (with a group) and was worried that the motion of the boat would cause a problem. So I opted not to try it.....but perhaps next time I will ask the captain to stop so that I could try it at least.

A great image at a beautiful time of day Sherry. The nearest tree on the right, other trees mid ground left and distant shore background right all combine to provide great depth. As far as the ripples are concerned, being in a boat, I believe if the water is not moving then you must be. In this image I think you have chosen wisely, blurry trees would have killed this image more than any ripples ever would. Very well done.   Posted: 05/20/2022 04:14:49
