Fall Colors on Wenatchee River by Peter Cheung

November 2021 - Fall Colors on Wenatchee River

About the Image(s)

Fall colors this year are stunning. The picture was taken on the scenic drive Hwy 2 near Leavenworth, WA. Beautiful Fall colors were everywhere along the highway. In order to capture the water movement of the river, I added a ND filter to reduce the shuttle speed. The camera settings are Nikon D850, Nikon 18-35mm, 1.3 sec, f/11, iso 31, 18mm.

Lovely image and with the D850 you have the mega pixels to go 36x24 or larger and the image will hold. Love the moving water as it goes across the image and the color of the trees awesome.
What did you do in post?
It looks like that the photo was taken from a higher place like next to the road? What opportunity might you have had to climb down a bit and take the shot?   Posted: 11/09/2021 14:03:45

The silky water and the yellow of the trees make the image. I also like the composition, I can almost hear the water coming from the right and passing in front of me.   Posted: 11/10/2021 03:46:27

What a stunning image! The colors are superb, and the composition makes the image. Those curves of the "shore" draw my eyes into the background and bring me back out again. And I am always a sucker for "Smooth" water. Just beautiful and worthy of a large print on the wall, IMHO.   Posted: 11/12/2021 11:14:16

A superb image Peter. Your construction and use of the water to convey depth are first rate. Congratulations.   Posted: 11/27/2021 18:15:44
