Lake Redona by Janos Demeter, EPSA

September 2021 - Lake Redona

About the Image(s)

The photo was recently taken in Italy, Lago Redona. It’s a beautiful lake with turquoise water and some ruins. I used a drone, this is the explanation of the angle.

So there are so many things I want to know about this image. Having never gotten an interest in drones, I realize they have some incredible views that you would never get otherwise. Love the color of the lake, the interesting features like those boxes right in the middle. The roads are interesting and the mini mansions (or I think they are). IS there also a small beach? I can't tell if that is rock or sand. When I visited Lago Maggiore there was no sand only what looked like shale. The composition with the lake leading you into the image is nice and the color of the lake spectacular! Nice job.   Posted: 09/09/2021 12:59:54

Yes, Sherry, it was a small beach, yet nobody was swimming.   Posted: 09/19/2021 08:44:05

Lovely photo. I, too, like the way the lake leads the viewer into the scene. The shoreline jutting out into the lake adds interest. I am not fond of "silky" water obtained with long exposure, but I am not certain that long exposures are possible with a drone. So I must assume that the lake was actually that still and smooth. Interesting. Very serene, peaceful.   Posted: 09/10/2021 17:21:02

Carol, the water was so calm, that even with a short exposure it looks "silky". I don't think it is possible to have long exposures with drones, however the whole story is new for me.   Posted: 09/19/2021 08:45:29

A great image Janos. As mentioned by Sherry and Carol, the lake provides a great sense of depth, but so do your use of foreground and background elements. Well done.   Posted: 09/19/2021 03:28:11
