Azore Island by Janos Demeter, EPSA

June 2021 - Azore Island

About the Image(s)

This is my photo for June. I recently came back from my short trip to the Azore islands. A beautiful place, worth visiting. Full of green forests, lakes, thermal baths. The picture is a panorama composed from 6 individual photos.

The site is beautiful , was this taken from a helicopter or drone? The scope is magnificent and the image is crystal clear. The one thing I would do is straighten the horizon line...perhaps it is an optical illusion but I don't think so. I would also like to know some specifics about the details, like what camera, F stop, etc.   Posted: 06/10/2021 12:47:55

The camera is my Canon EOS5D mkIV, the lens is a Tamron 24-70 at 24mm. t=1/200, f/9.0 and ISO 200
You are right with the horizons line, the process of doing the panorama has made a curve, so that it is impossible to have all the water surfaces horizontal.   Posted: 06/15/2021 06:04:40

Lovely image. Makes me want to visit. But I get a sense that it is not quite straight. Love the cloud shadows over the lake in the foreground.   Posted: 06/10/2021 13:36:09

When doing panoramas, I prefer to hold the camera in a vertical position.   Posted: 06/15/2021 05:57:31

A great image Janos. I understand what you are saying about stitching vertical images together to make a pano, but I agree with Sherry, the water line on the horizon still looks uneven to me. But still a great image. Well done.   Posted: 06/20/2021 06:35:39

Nice image and shooting vertical with the camera with significant overlap only way to go. PS for the horizon line - free transform

I might have played with the contrast and white balance or use the ND grad filter on the clouds in Lightroom to give a bit more punch

Nice shot   Posted: 06/21/2021 15:43:46
