This photo was taken from the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry in 2018 using a Canon Powershot SX50 hs bridge camera. It was early morning and the misty cloud with the eerie color below fascinated me. I know the trees are not very sharp but I loved the mountains with the misty clouds below them. and despite the soft focus, this photo enlarged nicely to 11x14 and hangs on a wall in my home, a fond remembrance of a great road trip.

Hi Carol, welcome to our group. This is a great image to put up first time, congratulations. The panorama format suits this image wonderfully. Your composition is excellent, just enough sky above the mountain peaks and just enough of the foreground water to give the scene a base. To me, the mountains are definitely the dominant element in this scene and are beautifully sharp, I wouldn't loose any sleep over the trees. I'm glad you've printed it and hung it on your wall. I will not lie....your image influenced my choice for this month. I saw your clouds, mist and mountains and thought of my Glacier Image! So I decided to post that one this month. Like Ian, I would not worry over much about the trees not be tack sharp, the image is about the mountain. First of all welcome to the group and sorry for the delay in responding - Had a valve replaced in the old ticker last Tuesday and got home Friday and finally responding - I am doing well but won't be allowed (maybe I will cheat ) to pick up a camera for 4-6 weeks.
Your image - 11x14 will do well and I am sure brings back many memories each time you look at it. As far was soft image - benign the ferry didn't help at all - and I think we have all been there.
The image is pleasing and I think you made a good decision on the crop and putting the horizon line low - good choice.
