Manly Beach by Ian Cambourne

October 2024 - Manly Beach

About the Image(s)

Spring has arrived down here, but the weather is still very unsettled. One day we are in short sleeves, the next day the jumpers go back on. This image was taken mid September at one of Sydney's beaches. Details are: Nikon D810; Tamron 28-300mm lens at 28mm; ISO 64; F11; 1/160 and hand held. Minor processing in LR, PS and Nik's Tonal Contrast has been applied.

A lovely image of Manly Beach and I thought you did a really nice job integrating the C curve of the beach with descending height of the trees - an outstanding leading line and a great story.   Posted: 10/09/2024 15:42:28

Just a magnificent beach ...I love the curve and the way it pulls your eye into the scene. The shape of the beach is very unusual, and going from rocky areas to a proper sand beach is not something we see often in our Florida landscape. I think about Captiva Island which has great beaches (or at least did) and then the tip of the island is pretty much all rocks (like my image this month).

I love the way the wave and shoreline merge and seem to go on for a very long time. That white draws my eye in to enjoy the beauty of the area. You've minimized the sky since it is rather bland (I.E. no clouds) and anchored the scene nicely with the rocks that also have that curve to it as well. Well done!

Ian, I like all the lines that draw my eye into and through the image. The foreground rocks add an anchor and then the surf curves along the shoreline until it reaches the people both in the water and shore. A great job of keeping everything focused throughout the image.   Posted: 10/26/2024 17:53:24

Beautiful capture. I like the rocks in the foreground. The rocks add texture and interest to the image. The curve of the gentle waves that approaching the shore, and the line of the tall pine trees that frames the beach in the background are beautiful. Well done.   Posted: 10/30/2024 21:16:33
