About the Image(s)

This image is a bridge in Tibet during a trip to China. I was impressed by the prayer flags and the contrast with the motorcycle.

This image was scanned from one of the last film slides I ever captured in 2006.

Mary, first I hope everything goes well with your knee surgery. I had my right done 11 years ago. Interesting image of the bridge with all the ornaments. The blue ski with the white clouds, and the mountains creates a very nice background. The person on his bike complements the image and gives dimension to it. I just cropped slightly from the right (my right) of the frame, and added some light to the motorist to make it stand out better   Posted: 05/11/2022 08:21:03

Perfect timing with capturing this great bridge and with the motorcyclist. As Isaac mentioned the mountains and clouds makes a very nice background. One distraction for me is the branch to the right of the bridge. Not sure if it's part of the bridge or not. For me, if it's not connected to the bridge I would probably remove it.
I like the crop. If I did anything it would make it more centered. Also, adding a vignette and brightening the center of the bridge with a radial gradient will help to keep your eye on the subject. Very nice image.   Posted: 05/11/2022 09:30:51

I like this shot although I don't know exactly why. The colors are harmonious, the flags are blowing in the win, the mountains and sky background work well. The motorcycle gives perspective. I do agree with Barbara about crop and vignette, although I wonder what is to the right of this image.   Posted: 05/11/2022 12:18:31

Mary - this is interesting and what I feel helps is the very central position of the rider. That would be enhanced if the bridge was precisely centred in the image by cropping slightly from left. I don't worry about the right branch. I hope one day to get to Tibet!   Posted: 05/12/2022 11:32:51

I like your suggestion for centering the motorcycle. I did it and will attach the result.

Mary, I agree with all the previous comments made about what an interesting image this is. In addition, I really enjoy the story being told. As I stare closely at the motorcyclist, I am wondering where he is going. I notice what appears to be a flag on his cycle and I am wondering if he is going to hang it on the bridge. What a fascinating place!   Posted: 05/13/2022 10:01:32
