Bruce, this image is a WOW picture. Peak of action, great background, sharp. I can not find anything wrong with it.   Posted: 01/06/2022 14:52:19

Thanks Isaac, I spent about six hours in the blind with manual focus set to the plain the birds were coming in and using my cable release so did not have to keep my eye in the viewfinder. I got many varieties of birds and poses to choose from. This is normally an exercise to disappointment for me to try this, but it worked out this time for me.   Posted: 01/07/2022 20:15:26

Bruce, This is truly perfection! The colors, the crisp details, the flow of the composition and the story being told are all simply exquisite! I especially love the wing span that you caught.   Posted: 01/07/2022 17:25:53

Wow Maria, perfection is a real ego booster. I will share some of my images from the same shoot and other species later. Thanks a million. Bruce   Posted: 01/07/2022 20:16:53

I absolutely love this shot! I'm still fairly new to photography and providing feedback, but I don't see how it can be improved. It's sharp and the colors are phenomenal. I can imagine these two birds are arguing about territory. Would love to know what happened next.   Posted: 01/09/2022 19:38:22

Laura, thank you so much for your kind words. I am sure this forum will help you learn a lot and learn to love nature photography. Will make some comments about your hummingbird on your post. Bruce   Posted: 01/09/2022 20:37:02

It is an amazing image. How did you manage to get such an out of focus background with F10, or was it accomplished in post processing.

Thanks Mary, The background trees were quite a way in the distance, and the reason I love my 400 2.8 lens. It really creates some great background. Bruce   Posted: 01/21/2022 17:14:37

Bruce - your patience certainly paid off and your technique of a fixed focus to a point with f10 delivered. I love the colour linkage between the two birds. A fabulous image - congratulations. I hope you succeed in getting this published somewhere - it deserves to be!

We have a planned trip to Costa Rica leaving in 2 weeks - plenty of colourful birds there!   Posted: 01/30/2022 09:33:32
