About the Image(s)

This image of Niagara Falls taken in 2015 was taken with my Canon 7D Mark II, 1/800 sec, f 9.0, ISO 200. The view is from Goat Island on the US side of the falls.

Basic exposure adjustments were made in Adobe Camera Raw. Shadows were also lifted with the help of luminosity selections. I finally went into Nik Software’s Viveza2 and added structure to the clouds.

Mary, no question that Niagara Falls is one of the wonders of the world. The amount and flow of the water is just monstrous. I have only been at Niagara Falls from the Canadian side on one trip to Toronto. The strength of the falling water creates the mist. I like your vantage point and the flow from left to right. The buildings in the background give character o the image.   Posted: 10/07/2021 17:24:09

Mary, You have done a lovely job with your post processing. The colors and details pop very nicely. I love how the line of mist leads the viewer to the clouds and buildings.   Posted: 10/09/2021 13:06:43

I enjoyed your comments. It is always interesting to discover what others see in our images!   Posted: 10/09/2021 13:25:22

Mary, I too like the vantage point. It is something different than the normal shots of Niagara. Your PP really brought out the color and details. I would not have used Nik viveeza to add structure to the clouds as they look a little crunchy to me. A well done image.   Posted: 10/18/2021 15:14:45

Mary, I also really like the unusual perspective. I have never been to Niagara falls. Your composition keeps the eye in the frame with no distraction elements. Well done. Bruce   Posted: 10/18/2021 17:05:19

This is a very interesting image Mary! One can really feel the power of the water volume and I'm interested your choice of shutter speed (glad you didn't use a slow one as I don't like the effect).

I think the clouds look fine here because there aren't many! Heavy clouds can compete for attention too much, but not here.

Nice image and thank you for sharing.   Posted: 10/21/2021 11:56:16
