About the Image(s)
This image was taken the day after Thanksgiving while visiting my in-laws in Florida. I had been walking the Robinson Preserve for about two hours and only had a few minutes left when I stumbled onto a pier overlooking water that was perfectly still and reflecting birds like a mirror. I tried to make the most of the few minutes I had in that magical spot.
The image was taken with a Canon R5 (a camera I ultimately returned, when I decided to get a Sony instead) with Canon's RF 100-500 mm lens at f/7.1, ISO 1600, shutter 1/1600 s.

Richard, welcome to group 72, will look forward to seeing many of your images. You present an interesting image with cool reflections. Not an easy scene to capture. The reflection of the clouds is also interesting. My eyes are not great, but the birds look a little soft on my screen.

Thanks Bruce! I agree the birds are not as sharply focused as I would have liked. For most of my photography, I have used a cropped sensor camera - the Canon R7. But I recently acquired a full frame camera - a Sony Alpha 1, Mark II. I'm quite excited about it, but confess to having difficulty with the autofocus. My keeper rate for birds in flight is still pretty low. I'm hoping to figure it out soon!   Posted: 02/03/2025 09:59:10
