About the Image(s)
Canon EOS 6D Mark II. 1/320 sec, f/9, ISO 100. Canon EF lens 70-200 f/4 L IS USM.
I was on my way to Mammoth Lake, California when I saw this scenery. The original RAW was flat. I tried to set a 3-layer image. First, edited it in LR, then opened as Smart Object in PS. I adjusted foreground, mountain and sky separately. The trees was darkened using Level and masked out the bushes. The mountain contrast adjusted and applied only on several areas using combination of Level and Luminousity Mask. Additional Contrast was applied high-lighted mountain. The Sky was adjusted separately by using Curve.

This photo evokes a lot of drama. All the work you put into this was worth it.   Posted: 08/01/2022 13:49:54

Hi Frans- Love your picture! When I see the original, it's hard to imagine how you got these colors and details in the final. My first impression (before I saw the title) was that this was a group of glaciers, going by the blue color. I'm guessing that when you were there, the light conditions were such that these are the colors you saw, and you tried to bring them out in post-processing. However, it might be slightly more realistic if the mountain colors were just a little browner or earth-toned. Or on second thought, with all the clouds, I wonder if it might have even more impact if it were converted to B/W. I played with that an attached an example.   Posted: 08/04/2022 19:01:46

I agree, the post processing is what made this photo stand out. You did a great job with it. So, nice shot and the post processing was just right for this shot. Good job.   Posted: 08/15/2022 23:32:20
