About the Image(s)
When I was in Uvalde taking bird pictures this March, I also noticed numerous wasps landing around a pool of groundwater. Sometimes they would actually land right on top of the water. I started trying to photograph one taking off from the water, which was challenging because they moved so quickly. Finally, I caught one. Even at 1/2000 shutter the wings in flight were still blurred but that effect seems fine to me for this image. I have included the original pre-processed image too.

Dean, I am in awe. To get a small creature in flight and in focus is just great. I have tied on numerous occasions to catch a bee in flight as it leaves the flower but have never ben successful. Well done!   Posted: 05/12/2023 13:21:12

This is an impressive photo. I think that the colors are great and the reflection in the water only adds to the beauty of the shot. I do not think I can offer much in how to edit or improve the photo as I can not see any room for improvement.   Posted: 05/15/2023 14:30:18

Your patience paid off. All is sharp except for the motion blur of the wings, even at that speed. This adds to the action. Furthermore, you captured the water motion caused by the flapping of the wings!
Holding the camera for a prolonged period of time, especially with a heavy lens can be pretty tiring (my left arm is not as strong as it used to be!). I like the use of the monopod in these situations, as it offers more flexibility than a tripod.

Really like the sharp reflection in this image. Just had a problem figuring out the orientation of the wasp. Is he coming or going? Nice sharp image.   Posted: 05/25/2023 18:25:11
