January 2022 - Squirrel

About the Image(s)

Taken in Central Park, New York. In the Fall the squirrels can be seen scurrying around gathering food for the winter. They seem to be quite used to the human traffic and are therefore more bold than usual.

Great lighting Mervyn, detail in the eye, background diffused and not distracting from the image. Good shot, only comment I would add is I wonder what the pic would have been like if the camera was a little lower.   Posted: 01/03/2022 22:58:52

I think its a great squirrel capture! Nice with him standing so we see the light belly and brownish tail. Nice whiskers and eye catchlight are lovely. And look at his cute toes!

If you have a tiny bit more room to give his face for him to look into, I think it would make a stronger composition.   Posted: 01/04/2022 19:58:09

Really nice. Good light, crisp, plenty of details and great pose. I agree with Brenda that it would be nice to have a bit more room on the right side (in the direction of the animal gaze).
Lovely capture.   Posted: 01/10/2022 12:51:04

Here is the original. Where do you suggest the crop should be?   Posted: 01/11/2022 09:19:34

I would leave more room on the right lower corner as the squirrel is looking there.
Here we go:
It could be also tighter on the animal, but this is just the way I see it (also respecting the 1/3 rules with the squirrel over the left third line).   Posted: 01/11/2022 09:24:44

I like how this adds the tension that the squirrel is now on a tight ledge!   Posted: 01/11/2022 19:17:02
