About the Image(s)

For this month I found this tree with white flowers while on a walk. I took the photo around noon on a very cloudy day. So the light was able to diffuse. Again I used my iPhone 6s. For the photo I edited it a tiny bit in Lightroom by increasing the contrast and increasing the vibrance. Upon reviewing it it feels like there could be some cropping but I am unsure where to crop it.

I like the idea Jacob, my wife is into photographing every flower in site. I am a little concerned about certain parts of the pic being blown out. There is a setting in your i phone that lets you cut back the exposure a little, that would solve this problem. I agree with cropping to focus a little more on the flowers.   Posted: 05/09/2021 01:08:56

Hi Jacob, I agree with Geoff that you have too bright a pic and bringing down exposure will help. I would ask yourself, what is the subject? And I think the answer is the 2-3 blooms in the top right corner. Whatever you choose, crop in on them to remove the million distracting flowers on the left. Then you can add your clarity and vibrance and don't forget your vignette. They are certainly pretty enough to warrant some extra work and wow us!   Posted: 05/09/2021 12:27:40

I think this is a difficult image to crop much better than you already did. You might put a vignette on the background to darken it a bit.   Posted: 05/10/2021 20:26:25

The image is definitely too bright and too busy. I you follow the tips suggested above you will create a much better final result.   Posted: 05/12/2021 14:37:55

Jacob, everything has been said. The brightness is difficult to control in white subjects. In general it is always a good idea to dial the exposure down. If not, you lose detail and texture. Next time get closer and pick one flower. Keep shooting.   Posted: 05/14/2021 14:03:18

I find flowers, especially white, a very difficult subject. I agree with the comments above.
If possible, I would probably crop, focussing on the main flower that is a little offset to the right side of the center.
Can you take pict in RAW with your iPhone? If so, you would get far more control on highlights and shadows. Unfortunately, once a pixel is "burned" you can't bring back any details.   Posted: 05/19/2021 05:23:01
