About the Image(s)
Attached is my entry for October. I am kinda ambiguous about this one, but I thought I would put it out there to see what others thought about it.
Technical details:
Canon R5 70-200 f2.8 at 187mm f2.8 ISO 640 1/640
My memory is a little vague about this shot. I think I was taking this young one feeding and it just so happened I captured this morsel in focus. I just wished the focus on the face was a little sharper. But I don't know whether it helps focus attention on what's in its mouth.
Cropped, heavy vignette, I cloned out a bit of vegetation lying on his face that was distracting.

Jaswant,
I think this is a very effective composition and an unusual one when it comes to photography of these animals. I like that the stem and lips and hairs around the lips are in clear focus and the rest of the face is softer but still discernable. All of the images you have shown of these animals have been outstanding but I think this is the one I like the best because it is unique and a bit whimsical.   Posted: 10/02/2024 15:04:27

This is certainly a different composition of these wonderful animals and shows how close one is able to get to them. I had one brush past my leg as it passed me on the path!
The focus is on the mouth and the food, and so I don't think it matters that the face and eyes are out of focus.   Posted: 10/09/2024 15:05:30

Jaswant,
This is a beautiful picture. I love the composition, and the relaxed/leisure and 'human-like' expression of the gorilla. It appears the gorilla was in deep thought... the twig in its mouth... reminded me of people biting their pen when in deep thought.... a very artistic photo!

This is a great photo. I love how the plant is the point of focus with the gorilla partially faded out. This really helps with that deep thinker concept. Overall great photo. Also if you could make only the plant in the mouth have color then I think that would add to the photo. Again well done.   Posted: 10/14/2024 01:51:43

Hi Jaswant,
Even if the eyes and face are not in focus, i love this image. The twig, lips and teeth are in focus. I find that the blur makes it more intimate for me.
This little guy is quite relaxed, almost falling asleep after munching.
Certainly tells a story, almost a romance.
For me, this is a keeper, and possibly a competition winner.

Love this one! On my monitor the top of the plant looks slightly blown out? Other than that, this is perfect and a very nice catch!   Posted: 10/14/2024 22:53:25

I think you should keep putting your ambiguous shots up there for us. I like that this is a different take on what I tend to expect from a gorilla shot.   Posted: 10/27/2024 03:54:21
